Meet our team
Following 20 years of working in the graphic design and advertising industry, Emmanuelle moved from Belgium to South Africa with her family in 2016 and fell in love with this truly iconic country.

After having travelled extensively, soaking up the diverse cultures and meeting many interesting people, she decided to venture out on her own and create a business that would combine her love of nature, art and culture,...things that inspire her every day to breathe life to her designs and illustrations.
And so, The Sugarbird was born!
The Sugarbird is a Cape Town based company that offers uniquely themed souvenir gifts and products.
We love to work in conjunction with and support local small businesses. This instils a sense of giving back to the local community.

All of our products are 100 % locally handmade and manufactured by Proudly South African providers - No china here !

Collin was born in Zimbabwe and grew up in Murewa, a township situated 75 km from Harare. After succeeding in formal schooling, he came to South Africa, Hout Bay, with his family to look for a job.
​
Passionate about arts & crafts, Colin joined the Sugarbird team in 2019. He is in charge of the manufacturing and the packaging of our products and has always shown a lot of enthusiasm in what he does.
His dream one day is to launch his own business in butchery.
